Why this ACT score calculator shows a range
Official Online Practice Tests 1–4 each have their own scoring-key table. The same number of scored questions correct can convert to different 1–36 section scores, and those section scores can produce different Enhanced composites. This page applies one set of totals to all four keys, computes four composites, and reports the lowest and highest of those four results.
If the four keys agree, the page shows a single composite and states that they agreed. That agreement is still an estimate from these practice-test keys. It is not an official ACT score and not a prediction interval for a live administration.

What you can enter here
- Scored questions correct only. Count items your scoring key treats as scored. Exclude questions marked “Not Scored.”
- English, Math and Reading are required (0–40, 0–41 and 0–27). Science is optional (0–34) and is used only for an estimated STEM range.
- Official Online Practice Tests 1–4 only. The paper Preparing-for-the-ACT.pdf booklet and other forms are outside this estimator. If you are not sure the booklet is one of these four, this page stops the estimate and points to ACT’s official listing.

The Enhanced ACT: What Changed?
ACT introduced the Enhanced ACT for national online testing in April 2025 and, from September 2025, every ACT test (national, international, state and district) uses the updated composite calculation. According to ACT's published test information, the main changes are:
- Science became optional. It no longer counts toward the composite. Students who take it still receive a 1–36 Science score and a STEM score.
- The composite averages three sections — English, Math and Reading — instead of four.
- The test is shorter, with fewer questions and more time per question. ACT lists 50 English questions in 35 minutes, 45 Math questions in 50 minutes and 36 Reading questions, a portion of which are unscored field-test items.
- Math questions have four answer choices instead of five, matching the other sections.
- The scale did not change. Section scores and the composite stay on 1–36, and the College and Career Readiness Benchmarks are unchanged. See the ACT Test User Handbook.

Frequently asked questions
- What does the composite range on this page mean?
- It is the lowest and highest Enhanced composite produced when the same scored-question totals are run through Official Online Practice Tests 1–4. If all four keys agree, the page shows that single number and says so. The range compares those four scoring keys. It is not a prediction interval for a live ACT score.
- Does the Science score affect my ACT composite?
- Not on the Enhanced ACT. Since September 2025, every new ACT composite is calculated from English, Math and Reading. A Science score is still reported on the 1–36 scale and, together with Math, produces a separate STEM score.
- Can I enter the number of questions I answered correctly?
- Yes, for Official Online Practice Tests 1–4. Enter scored questions correct and exclude items marked Not Scored. Other booklets — including the paper Preparing-for-the-ACT.pdf form — are not converted here. A raw-score limit still applies: there is no universal conversion for every ACT form.
- Is this an official ACT tool, and are my scores saved?
- No. This is an independent calculator that applies published ACT composite and STEM rules to the four supported official scoring keys. Everything runs in your browser; scores are not stored or sent anywhere. Your official score report from ACT is always the authoritative record.
